Halley Van Muyen of Orillia, Ont., competing in her first-ever World Cup event, was the top Canadian, finishing 16th. Sarah Conrad of Dartmouth, N.S., who also participated in her first World Cup competition, was 17th.

"It is so exciting to watch the young athletes progress, improve and prove they belong with the top riders in the world," said Tom Hutchinson, the head coach of the Canadian freestyle snowboard team. "Canada's young athletes are surrounded by so many great senior team members that it inspires them to excel and propels their development."
