TANDADALEN, Sweden (CP) - Antti Autti of Finland and Lesley McKenna of Britain captured men's and women's halfpipe events in a World Cup snowboarding meet Friday night.

Autti finished the men's event ahead of compatriot Risto Mattila. The two are 1-2 in the overall standings.

Crispin Lipscomb of Whistler, B.C., narrowly missed qualifying for the 10-man final, finishing 11th. Josh Duncan of Whistler was 20th while Chris Waddel of Caledon, Ont., finished 35th. Calgary's Justin Lamoureux ended up 37th.

In the women's halfpipe, McKenna finished ahead of Switzerland's Fabienne Reuteler.

Norway's Kjersti Buaas, who placed fifth, tops the overall standings ahead of American Teter Hannah and McKenna.

Halley Van Muyen of Orillia, Ont., competing in her first-ever World Cup event, was the top Canadian, finishing 16th. Sarah Conrad of Dartmouth, N.S., who also participated in her first World Cup competition, was 17th.

"It is so exciting to watch the young athletes progress, improve and prove they belong with the top riders in the world," said Tom Hutchinson, the head coach of the Canadian freestyle snowboard team. "Canada's young athletes are surrounded by so many great senior team members that it inspires them to excel and propels their development."
