Rookie final qualifier finished…..Rookie team announced…Three last all star spots revealed….
During a showtime introduction ceremony presented by Matt Giraud; Drew Stevenson and Dave Mailman the Rookie team has been announced and the All stars presented.
Once again the action took place on the Jib park due to heavy snowfall and poor visibility condition. For this second day the jib park has been customised with another rail combo designed by local jib ripper Sylvain “Lami” Monnet.
The 20 qualified riders from yesterday joined by 10 invited riders battled at their best level to burn all copings provided and access the rookie team.
After a first session three riders made the cut : Jonathan Menthon will have another reason to party for his 23 birthday, he won the session with sweet frontside boardslide on the wall coping. Italian rail specialist Massimo Galfre and Ronnie Anderson who just recovered from a twisted shoulder get the two other spots.
During the second session, with the stakes high the remaining Rookies stepped up their game. Strategy is part of snowboarding during a best trick jam session and Emeric Front played it well, hitting only few times the wall to stomp a frontside 270 FS boardslide 270 out. Marcus Wehrle showed Australians are representing in Europe, showing his best at each features. Jules Reymond from sin a pure skateboarding style pulled out back side disaster, and nose press “crooked style” on the wall. Last spot remaining to complete the rookie team lead by captain Joel Strecker has been attributed to jib expert Lami Monnet who get tech shit done on both kinked and flat down he built for Avoriaz snowpark ( frontside 180 switch 50/50, switch boardlisde).
Next two days will be the final with a best trick format between both the rookies and the all stars on both slopestyle and jib park
