Py Brings Snow to the Capital
Friday, 16 April 2004

On the first day of the county cricket championship there was snow in London today thanks to former Millennium Dome supremo PY Gerbeau.

The ebullient Frenchman brought down loads of the white stuff to Trafalgar Square to promote the building of the worlds biggest snowboarding half pipe at Xscape, his indoor snow arena in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

PY, a former Disneyland Paris executive, posed on the snow in full snowboard gear.

The half pipe will be in public use for three months following its opening on April 24, which will be marked by what organisers boast will be the biggest ever snow and music event staged in the UK.

The event Gonzo on Snow is being sponsored by soft-drink company T&T and MTV and will feature Olympic skier Alain Baxter and World Cup snowboard champion Lesley McKenna.

PY said today: Xscape is passionate about encouraging the popularity of snow sports across the UK.

It is a fantastic achievement to have created the worlds only snow-covered half pipe and I am positive it will be a huge success for pros and public alike.

Lesley McKenna said: Alternative snowsports, and the whole vibe surrounding the scene, really needs to be brought home to the public here in the UK.
