Halifax Snowflex Nursery Slope
Monday, 10 May 2004

Work begins today (10 May 2004) on the brand new nursery slope and Snowflex system to be installed at Halifax Snowsports Centre, West Yorkshire. The 300 m2 new nursery slope will provide the safest teaching environment for the centre, previously only having a mesh surface to learn on.

The new beginners slope is being built adjacent to the Ski Lodge, also having an extension on the restaurant area and viewing facility. This leaves the current nursery slope site for the proposed Half Pipe project, recently granted planning permission although dates and final plans are yet to be agreed.

The centre provides an excellent facility for Yorkshire snowsporters and those further a field who make the trip. The Snowflex facility plays host to the AIM Big Air event, and a number of their own competitions (Halifax Air & Style, Saturday 15 May, 2004). This has produced some great riders and freestylists making the centre a hot bed for talent.

The main slopes jump area has just had the landing re-laid which will set the slope up for the summers events.

This Snowflex development continues the expansion of installations throughout the UK and more recently globally. The Halifax nursery slope is expected to be commissioned and open in June.
