Ride Freesport announce London Ride To Follow Saas Fee Event This Summer
Monday, 28 June 2004

Ride Freesport has announced the third event in the Ride series (following Verbier at the end of last winter and Saas Fee coming up shortly) will take place in London this autumn. The London Ride 04 will take place at the London Olympia from the 13th to 17th October. The event will be run in association with, and as part of, the Daily Mail Ski Snowboard Show 2004. Athletes from across the globe will compete on real snow over the five days. All the action will be filmed and a 24 minute TV broadcast is planned.

Before that however the Saas Fee Ride will be staged on 24th July with many of Europe's top freeskiers compete in the Allalin Snow Park and Skier Cross course on the Saas-Fee glacier in Switzerland. This year's event is stepping up a level on the debut session in 2003, by adding a Half Pipe comp to the existing Skier Cross and Big Air. There'll be a 24 minute filmed TV program for international distribution, full time DJ spinning in the Allalin Park, International team riders, Ski Testing, Ride Digital Photo Competition, Popcorn Bar After Party and loads of prizes for competitors and spectators. All of the event details and timings are on the website , to submit an entry download the PDF from the Events page of the website and send it to Warren Smith, Hotel Dom, 3906 Saas-Fee, Switzerland.

The British Freeski Camps 2004 will also be held over the next few weeks in Saas Fee. The camps, running from the 10-17, 17-24 and 24-31 July, will be focused on bringing the British freeskiing community closer together and building a basis for training riders to become top level Big Mountain, Skier Cross and New School competitors.

This years Verbier Ride, held between the 6th and 10th March, was a great success, the Verbier Ride was the IFSA (International Freeskiers Association www.freeskiers.org) European Freeskiing Tour Finals for the Big Mountain discipline, an ESPN X-Games 2005 qualifier for Skier Cross and a Pro/Am Slope Style comp and Jam session. If you missed the YOZ on Eurosport broadcast in April there is another chance to watch the 24 minute program of the event on the Extreme Channel on the following times: July 1st (1pm), 17th (1.30pm) and 21st (1.30pm) UK Time . The dates for the Verbier Ride 05 have now been confirmed as 5th-9th March 2005.
