Mungo crew's Kitzstenhorn report
Wednesday, 07 November 2007

Since a couple of weeks, we are connecting with crews from all over Europe who are also into blogging, photography or video production. Our objective is to create some sort of “European Online Crew Collective.eu” and become a hub for more local news/reports from what is happening around our Euro-mountains!
One of our partners are the Mungos from Slovenia and they have just send us their first report on their trip to the Kitzstenhorn glacier in Kaprun. This is a shout out to all the crews out there: contact us if you want to be part of our Collective!

mungokaprun.jpgSince there is still no snow conditions in Slovenia, the group of Mungos went to Austria, to open a new winter season.

We took off from Slovenian town Skofja Loka on Wednesday, 31st October in the afternoon and drove to Kaprun, Salzburg. We arrived late afternoon and found ourselves an apartment in the village Zellermoos between Zell am See and Kaprun (on the left side over the railroad) called Haus Unterberger. It was really nice and cheap so we recommend it.

Next morning we went to the glacier where we paid a lot for two day ticket (70EUR). The weather would be great if there wouldn’t be heavy winds on the top of the mountain, exactly there where ROXY snow park is placed. The park itself was perfectly shaped but with one basic error: You just couldn’t get enough speed for most of the objects. Mostly because of heavy winds and because the lift wasn’t working at that time, so if you really wanted you could hike for half an hour uphill and you eventually could not get enough speed for anything. All that didn’t break our spirit. We found some objects to ride and enjoyed our session. Later the lift started, but the queue was soon too long to bother.

Second day the weather was perfect. No winds, sunny with some clouds. However you still had to walk for a minute uphill from the upper lift station to get enough speed for jumps. It was nearly impossible to ride two kickers in a row. The park itself is just a little bit too flat.

Anyway, we had a great time. You can check our video now. Ajde!
