Operators of Scotland's newest ski resort at Aonach Mor, near
Fort William, say they are enjoying their best season for some time with half of
it still to go.
They say north-facing slopes are firming up "quite
nicely" with soft spring snow. And with blue skies and sunny days, there has
been reasonable ski-ing for the whole of the school half-term.
More than
50 enthusiasts have been taking part in Scottish Ski Club training over the past
five weekends.
"With the great snow conditions and with more forecast, this is going
to be extended by several more weeks," said a spokesman.
Chris Hawkes,
who works locally with a design agency, said: "So far this ski season has
certainly been a vast improvement on last year. I've already managed to get more
days on the hill and the quality and coverage of the snow has been
excellent."
The snowboard school has also been busy throughout the
half-term break.
Manager Davie Austin said: "The conditions are great for
intermediate and advanced riders to take a lesson and improve their
skills."
