Michaela Dorfmeister Joins World Cup Skiing on 4
Thursday, 20 December 2007

This week World Cup Skiing on 4 comes from the Austrian resort of St.Anton where we catch up with the women’s World Cup tour. Nick Fellows will be joined by special guest, Michaela Dorfmeister who will appear in several of our programmes throughout the series.

Michaela Dorfmeister retired from ski racing last year after a fantastic career which included 25 World Cup victories, two4.gif World Championship victories, Overall World Cup success in 2002 and two Olympic Gold medals in 2006.

Michaela will join Nick Fellows in the commentary box and her insight into the downhill course will be second to none as she won her first podium place there in 1995.

Britain’s Chemmy Alcott will be taking part in the downhill race and as she managed 10th place in training there is hope of a good result. We will be taking a closer look at Chemmy’s world with an indepth feature on the people behind Team Chemmy and the new methods they are using to maximise her potential.

Nick Fellows will take a greater look at the resort of St.Anton and its festive activities. The resort is just as well known for its après ski as it is for its skiing.

For those of you planning on spending Christmas on the slopes we will be bringing you the latest snow conditions from Europe, especially Switzerland which has had record snowfalls this season.

Don’t forget to tune into Chemmy Alcott’s weekly Fit to Ski segment to make sure you’re in tip top condition for tackling the fantastic snow!

Watch our action packed Christmas show on Channel 4 this Sunday 23rd December at 7.50 am.

World Cup Snowboarding and Nordic programming will return to Channel 4 after the Christmas and New Year on 8th January 2008.
