Accident at Mt. Hood Meadows kills snowboarder
Friday, 28 December 2007

A snowboarder died yesterday at Mt. Hood Meadows, the Hood River County Sheriff's Office confirmed tonight.

But Chief Deputy Jerry Brown said all details about the death were being withheld until the victim's family could be notified. He said the family members live out of state.

The death was the result of "an unfortunate snowboarding accident," Brown said. "There was no collision, just an accident," he said. He declined to elaborate.

Officials at Mt. Hood Meadows could not be reached.

Last January, Geoffry Bradeen, 45, of Portland died of a head injury while skiing at Meadows. Investigators believe Bradeen fell and was hit from behind by a snowboarder as he was getting up. He died of a skull fracture, according to the Oregon medical examiner.
