Kwame, 34, recorded his best slalom performances in Iran last week and reduced his FIS (International Ski Federation) points to 137.5, underneath the all important Olympic qualifying level of 140 points. Having learnt to ski in the snowdome of Milton Keynes, Base Camp sponsored Kwame's first trip out to the European Alps and his first ever steps on real snow. His first ski season was spent training with our Meribel BASI Level 1 & 2 Instructor Course and since then Kwame has travelled the world over in pursuit of his dream and qualification points. Base Camp Director, Fergie Miller, comments, 'It has been a pleasure to support Kwame while training and competing to qualify for the Olympics over these last 5 years. It has been a marathon effort and Kwame has had to overcome untold hurdles, including setting up a Ghanian Winter Olympic Association and overcoming the complex and bureaucratic world of ski racing. His qualification is a true testament of his strength and determination and his work in developing skiing in Ghana and charitable causes says a lot about the man. We hope Kwame is able to enjoy this moment with his family and wish him every success for the future. Go Kwame!'
