Scottish Snowdome Project Unveiled, Construction Begins Next Month
Friday, 13 August 2004
Final plans for a massive 500m ($900m US) project to redevelop a 200 acre site near Glasgow, Scotland have been unveiled. Construction is scheduled to begin next month on the complex, which has received both public and private funding.
The project, which includes what will be Scotland's first indoor snowdome - the third Xscape in the UK - is on a site close to the towns of Braehead and Renfrew that was previously used by heavy industry on the banks of the river Clyde
The complex will also include cinemas, bowling alley, climbing walls, restaurants and specialist retail stores. A public park the size of six football pitches will also be built as well as a village marina, a riverside walk and cycleways. There will be a million square feet of new business space and more than 2000 new flats and homes.
The slope is due to open in a little over 18 months time in February 2006.
