Snowboarders decend on Highlands
Tuesday, 02 March 2004

The cold snap provided the perfect conditions for some of the UK's top ski and snowboarders at the weekend. They descended on the Highlands to parade their skills in spectacular fashion, as Nick Rougvie reports.

The recent Arctic blast provided the perfect conditions for some of the UK's top freestyle winter sports specialists, as they took to the Highland slopes at the weekend.

That meant spectators were treated to a spectacular display of aerials, 360's, somersaults jumps, and of course bumps as competitors battled it out in the Slopestyle Ski and Snowboard competition on the summit of Aonach Mor on the Nevis Range.

Prizes were up for grabs across a variety of age groups on the circuit which, given the weather, was said to be of a comparable standard to that of some of the top European resorts.

The event also gave some of the top riders a final chance to hone their skills ahead of this month's British Championships in France.
