Glencoe Ski Area Bought
Friday, 09 July 2004

Glencoe ski area, Scotlands original commercial ski centre which hardly operated last season after the former owners first announced it was mothballed for 03-04 and then that it, along with their other Scottish resort Glenshee, was up for sale, has a new owner. It opened at weekends in the end thanks to pressure from the public and staff and the creation of a dedicated team of volunteer staff.

The area has been bought for an undisclosed sum by Glasgow businessmen David Campbell and Neil Tait. They are planning to open the Glencoe centre all year round by developing facilities for climbers and walkers.

The deadline set by receivers KPMG for offers to buy the Glenshee Chairlift Company passed last week. Several final bids are believed to be being considered, including a management buy out.
