Lesley McKenna on Superstars this Thursday
Thursday, 13 November 2003

On Thursday 13th November, Scottish Snowboarder Lesley McKenna takes centre stage battling it out against the UK's top athletes in a remake of the popular 1970's show Superstars!

Going out to 17 million viewers on BBC One at 20:00 GMT, Lesley will compete against 7 other athletes including runners Liz McColgan and Katharine Merry, swimmer Zoe Baker, Annabelle Croft and Olympic medal Judo star Kate Howey.

Lesley McKenna is Britain's No 1 ranked snowboarder, British Champion (19 titles), and the only British winter sports athlete to have won a World Cup. Lesley is the first British snowboarder to compete in the Olympics and has been ranked in the top 5 in the World Cup half pipe standings for the last 3 seasons. This winter Lesley is back on the World Cup circuit as well as producing and directing the 1st international all girls snowboard film called DropStitch.

When it comes to favourites, Lesley is not high on the list. Suzi Perry (presenter of SuperStars) claims "I'm not really sure what to expect from a snowboarder, so Lesley McKenna could be a dark horse."

But a dark horse she is...we promise you won't be disappointed!
